I’m enjoying these commentaries for the behind-the-scenes insights and anecdotes. I’m a sucker for extra features in general and commentaries specifically, so having access to them before the DVDs are even released is a real treat.
My only quibble is that it often became “commentary for the blind”, i.e. description of the ongoing action. I listened to it without the video many hours after I watched the episode and I could picture the scenes exactly because of how much he told us what was going on. I’ve found that this usually happens when people do commentaries alone so that they don’t leave dead air. A dialog between two or three people generally results in a more interesting listen (for me anyway).
I don’t know how far in advance these are recorded or if Robert could convince any of the crew or cast to join him, but I think having another person in the room would lead to better reminiscences.
